ABC Pacific – In what’s believed to be a first for the country, tribal leaders in Papua New Guinea’s Enga Province are calling for peace, and urging no payback killings following the death of eleven of their tribe.
Enga’s Provincial Police Commander, George Kakas said its an unprecedented move following PNG’s most recent mass killing.
Commander Kakas says the massacre involved an inter-tribal arrangement of buying back a high powered weapon that went wrong.
