The USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), the flagship of the U.S. 7th Fleet, made a historic port visit to Palau this week, strengthening ties and fostering exchanges between the two nations and their service members with the local community. The ship, which carries the Commander of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, Vice Admiral Fred W. Kacher, operates as part of the “largest forward-deployed U.S. Fleet,” spanning from the Western Pacific to the Indian Ocean.
Last night, the USS Blue Ridge hosted a vibrant reception attended by local dignitaries and officials, along with the ship’s officers and crew. In welcoming remarks, Vice Admiral Kacher and U.S. Ambassador to Palau Joel Ehrendreich highlighted the ship’s visit as a symbol of the strong relationship between the United States and Palau.
Since its arrival on Saturday, August 10th, the USS Blue Ridge’s band has performed a rock concert at the night market, participated in a softball tournament at Airai Baseball Field on Sunday, and held a Wind Ensemble Concert at Bethlehem Park. Today, August 13th, ship tours will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
